John Amos, who starred in the hit sitcom Good Times and starred in the film Roots, is being treated for fluid retention connected to heart issues, according to WSB-TV. He was in the area working on a documentary with his son about civil rights leader Walter Bailey. Amos is narrating the film, the report says. TMZ initially reported that hospitalized amid claims by his daughter Shannon that he was a victim of elder abuse and “possible financial crimes.” She didn’t name anyone but just said that it was a “caregiver.”

She had set up a GoFundMe with a goal of $500,000 to cover his medical care and legal fees, the report says. But on Friday, Amos also told TMZ that his daughter’s claims are false and that he didn’t know why she set up the fundraiser. John Amos’ representative told TMZ that doctors drained the fluid and that he was starting to feel better. His career began in 1970, when he picked up roles on television series such as Bill Cosby Show, Mary Tyler Moore Show, Maude, America's Dad, Sanford and Son, and included starring roles in Roots and as Cleo McDowell in both Coming to America films.
