Russell Simmons is denying allegations of rape or sexual assault made by at least a dozen women over several decades.

The co-founder of Def Jam Recordings addressed the allegations in an interview on "In Depth with Graham Bensinger," discussing various aspects of his life, career, and the impact of the accusations that emerged in 2017.

In the interview, Simmons asserted, "I've never been violent to anybody. Of course, I've been insensitive, but certainly never been forceful in any of my relationships, all of which I've had have been consensual." He acknowledged his involvement in the #MeToo movement, stating it's a "great movement."

However, Simmons claimed that the allegations have taken a toll on his life, ruining relationships and impacting his charities. He emphasized that he hasn't spoken to anyone for five years. The music mogul, who currently resides in Bali, Indonesia, also revealed that he has had "thousands" of sexual partners over the years, attributing it to the different culture at the time.

"I think that the culture and the climate were different, and the way people interacted was different,” he said. “I think to judge 40 years ago as if it was today, we get in trouble."

Despite the challenges he has faced, Simmons expressed gratitude for the positive aspects of the #MeToo movement. He acknowledged its role in sensitizing men and bringing about positive changes for women.

Simmons' interview with Graham Bensinger was conducted in September in Bali and is set to broadcast in syndication. The interview covers various aspects of Simmons' life and provides his perspective on the allegations and the cultural shifts around the #MeToo movement.
