Host, rapper, and comedian Nick Cannon is turning a new leaf in the headlines, detailing his recent pursuit of a Master's Degree in child psychology and a Ph.D.

Cannon is known for his lengthy career as host of Wild n' Out, a competitive hip-hop comedy show, as well as other hosting gigs on top networks like Nickelodeon and TeenNick, even hosting America's Got Talent for seven years. Cannon, however, is also known for having 12 children with six different women, the most recent arriving this past December of 2022.

During a recent episode of The Language of Love with Dr. Laura Berman, he revealed that he was working towards a Master's Degree and a Ph.D. and how it has changed his outlook on fatherhood. He shared why he decided on these two fields of study. "I was already going to get a Master's in psychology and a Ph.D. in Divinity because religion is something I'm super intrigued by," he said. Cannon continued, "Now [the degree] is more in child psychology because I'm in that conversation every day, like 'the presence of a father' and 'how much are you going to be in [your children's lives]'..."

He made it clear that his life as a father directly impacted his reason for studying, saying that he wants "... to make sure that every single child has what they need developmentally and emotionally." Cannon also addresses his past of having multiple children with multiple women, the potential effects on his children's lives, and how he wants to mold his family's future. "I no longer want to be careless," he admits. "I want to be a lot more intentional with life and even especially when dealing with creating life because I love all my children, but I probably wasn't intentional," he revealed. The two hosts had an open conversation throughout the podcast about fatherhood and spirituality, seeing how the two are now heavily intertwined for Cannon.
