AmaZulu will reportedly part ways with TWO former Orlando Pirates stars whose contracts expire on 30 June 2022.

According to Daily Sun, Usuthu president Sandile Zungu confirmed that both Xola Mlambo and Augustine Mulenga are leaving the club. And that’s because the management together with the technical team decided against renewing the duo’s deals for various reasons. Both Mlambo and Mulenga joined AmaZulu during Benni McCarthy’s tenure, and his departure simply meant the end of the road for them. The arrival of Mlambo and Mulenga from Pirates somehow coincided with AmaZulu’s rise under McCarthy.

The former Pirates duo were instrumental in AmaZulu finishing second on the DStv Premiership log in the 2020-21 season. Mlambo and Mulenga again played pivotal roles as AmaZulu defied the odds to reach the group stages of the CAF Champions League earlier this season. Mlambo, 30, featured 50 times for AmaZulu and scored once, and it was this season that he really raised his hand and played an overall of 30 competitive matches. Mulenga, on the other hand, featured 21 times for Usuthu this season and found the back of the net on three occasions. Overall, the Zambia international made 48 appearances for AmaZulu, scored eight goals and registered 13 assists during his two-year stay.
