Idina Menzel is reflecting on the factors that contributed to the end of her marriage to Taye Diggs.

On Monday, October 17, the "Let It Go" singer shared the reasons behind her divorce from the All American actor after a decade of marriage during an interview on Dinner's on Me, hosted by Jesse Tyler Ferguson, as reported by The Messenger. The couple first crossed paths in 1995 in the world of theater while working on Rent. They then tied the knot in 2003 and welcomed their first son, Walker Diggs, six years later. However, in December 2013, they decided to end their marriage and finalized their divorce a year later, according to PEOPLE.

So, what led to the breakup of one of Hollywood's beloved couples? According to Menzel, race played a role in the dissolution of their marriage.

"[Taye] was on the cover of Essence and Ebony, and being interviewed by all of these Black journalists, and I think he had his own stuff to deal with, with that," Menzel revealed during her conversation with Ferguson. "And it seemed like there was some disappointment in the community with him because he was married to a little white Jewish girl. And so I took that on too."

As Diggs achieved stardom with roles in movies like "How Stella Got Her Groove Back" and "The Best Man," Menzel also carved out her own path. In 2002, she achieved success in "Wicked" as Elphaba, earning a Tony Award. Menzel noted that there was no lack of support from her then-husband within their relationship.

"He was always so supportive and probably relieved, so he didn't have to feel like he was overshadowing in some way or taking up too much space," she said.

She went on to explain that it was less about being successful and more about the dynamics of their relationship.

Additionally, Menzel mentioned that even though they were a strong couple on red carpets, she would sometimes feel isolated when photographers would request, "Can we get a picture of him by himself."
