In an excerpt published by GQ, Pippen sounded off on  Michael Jordan and the documentary The Last Dance, "Producers had granted him [Jordan] editorial control of the final product. The doc couldn’t have been released otherwise. He was the leading man and the director. Michael was determined to prove to the current generation of fans that he was larger-than-life during his day—and still larger than LeBron James, the player many consider his equal, if not superior.” He continued, "I was nothing more than a prop. His 'best teammate of all time,' he called me. He couldn’t have been more condescending if he tried."

Back in June, during an interview on The Dan Patrick Show, according to Sporting News, the NBA legend said Jordan’s decision to pursue a baseball career and step away from his team was “selfish” and “it was kind of who Michael Jordan was.” He also implied that Bulls former head coach Phil Jackson was racist. When asked if he thought Jackson was racist for giving Toni Kukoč, who was a rookie at the time, the last-second shot in a 1994 playoff matchup with the Knicks, Pippen answered, “Oh yeah.” Scottie Pippen’s memoir Unguarded will be released Nov. 9.
