This untitled project which the streaming behemoth reportedly purchased for $30 million—has been in development for over 20 years, and showcases West in multiple stages of his musical career.

The documentary was created by Clarence “Coodie” Simmons and Chike Ozah, the same duo who directed the artist’s debut music video, “Through the Wire,” and “Jesus Walks pt. 3.” The film will not only focus on the relationship between the three, but will highlight West’s trajectory as a prevalent musician; his position in politics; and deeply personal moments including his mourning the death of his mother, Donda West.

Coodie and Chike have put together West’s stories through footage they’ve shot themselves over the decades, as well as through home videos and never-before-seen content. The Atlanta-hailing rapper first exploded onto the music scene in the early 2000s, generating hit after hit after hit. Apart from his songs, though, West has pursued other (very lucrative) ventures in industries such as fashion, as evidenced by his incredibly popular line, Yeezy.

Kanye West, too, has remained a highly discussed public figure. Not only has he been previously married to Kim Kardashian—the two of them long considered one of the top celebrity power couples—but his association with President Donald Trump and his own 2020 presidential consideration has kept him elevated in the public eye. The documentary is reportedly scheduled to be released on the platform sometime this year.
