Bayern Munich player Jerome Boateng’s ex-girlfriend Kasia Lenhardt was found dead in an apartment in Berlin on 9 February just a week after their break-up.

The model, who gained fame from appearing in the television series Germany’s Next Top Model in 2012, was found dead in a luxury apartment, believed to be owned by Jerome Boateng, in Berlin’s Charlottenburg neighborhood. The death is not being treated as suspicious.

Her death comes just a week after the couple split and he gave an interview calling her out. Fellow model Sara Kulka confirmed Lenhardt’s death in an Instagram post written in German. Translated to English the post reads, “Rest in peace. You wonderful person, I miss you and would have loved to say goodbye. I hope you find your peace now and I hope the truth comes out now, I know how much you wished it would. I will never forget you, I don’t know anyone who could laugh like you. I send a lot of strength to the family.”

The Polish model leaves behind a six-year-old son named Noah who she had from a previous relationship. Tragically, she was found dead on his birthday. In 2020, on 9 February she dedicated a happy birthday post to her son posting a photograph affectionately holding the little boy in her arms. The 33-year-old Bayern Munich player and the 25-year-old model were in a relationship for just under a year before their messy break up. Boateng announced their break up following Lenhardt being involved in a car accident in his Mini on 5 January which resulted in the car being written off. When tested, there was a trace of alcohol in her blood.

According to Mirror, Jerome Boateng wrote on Instagram, “As is known from the media, I ended the relationship with Kasia Lenhardt. We will go our separate ways from now on. That is regrettable, but for my family and for me it is the only right one” said Boateng. “I had to take this step and draw a line. I apologise to everyone I’ve hurt especially with my ex-girlfriend Rebecca and our children. I am disappointed in myself too,” he continued. “A man has to take responsibility and act in the interests of his family and I’m doing it now. I wish Kasia all the best,” he concluded.

In an interview with German newspaper Bild the former Manchester City player claimed that Lenhardt blackmailed him into staying with her, saying she would accuse him of abuse which is what the mother of his children had previously accused him of.
