Six people have been treated for smoke inhalation following an explosion at the Engen refinery in Durban on Friday morning.
KwaZulu-Natal emergency services' Robert McKenzie said: “The exact cause is not yet known at this stage.” An enormous explosion has been reported at an Engen oil refinery in Wentworth, Durban on Friday. The early morning blast shook residents from their slumber, as flames billowed from the structure shortly afterward. Emergency services are currently operating at the scene, as the fire continues to burn throughout the day.
