Kerry Washington, the powerhouse behind Washington D.C.'s fearless crisis manager, Olivia Pope, has hinted at the possibility of reprising her iconic role in a potential reboot or film adaptation of the hit political thriller series, "Scandal."

In an interview with Extra at The Hollywood Reporter’s Women in Entertainment event on Wednesday evening (Dec. 6), Washington expressed her enthusiasm for the idea, stating that she would "be there" if the opportunity for a reboot materialized. However, she also made it clear that the ultimate decision rested in the hands of the show's creator, Shonda Rhimes. Washington remarked, "That is a question for Shonda Rhimes. I will be there if it happens."

"Scandal," which originally aired on ABC from 2012 to 2018, garnered widespread acclaim and accolades throughout its successful run. The series, known for its gripping narrative and Washington's compelling portrayal of Olivia Pope, left an indelible mark on television.

Shonda Rhimes, the creative force behind "Scandal," shared her admiration for the character of Olivia Pope during an interview with IMdb last May. When asked which of her characters she would bring back, Rhimes unequivocally responded, "Oh, Olivia Pope." She went on to express her fondness for the character, even in moments when Olivia Pope displayed morally complex traits, stating, "I like that character so much, even when she was bad. She’s very interesting."

As fans of "Scandal" continue to reminisce about the show's gripping plot twists and Washington's stellar performance, the possibility of an Olivia Pope comeback adds an exciting dimension to the conversation. The fate of a "Scandal" revival remains in the hands of Shonda Rhimes, leaving viewers on the edge of their seats, eagerly anticipating the potential return of one of television's most captivating characters.
