Common, whose real name is Lonnie Corant Jaman Shuka Rashid Lynn, is set to share his self-care insights in his upcoming book, "And Then We Rise."

The Grammy-winning rapper explained his motivation for writing the book, stating, "During the pandemic, I was really focusing on just putting out good energy because the world was experiencing so much, and health was in the forefront of a lot of people's thoughts and hearts." Common, like many others in 2020, used social media to document his wellness journey, including videos of his workouts with his personal trainer, Yancy Berry, and cooking healthy meals with his chef, Lauren Von Der Pool. This transparency about his health and well-being journey received positive feedback, leading him to transform his experiences into a book.

Common revealed that friends who were aware of his healthy practices and lifestyle would reach out to him, seeking advice on what they should be doing during that time. He recognized the increased focus on health during the pandemic and saw an opportunity to channel his inspiration into helping others.

In an exclusive interview with People, Common expressed his desire to promote good energy, joy, and love, particularly within the communities he hails from. He emphasized the importance of well-being, especially during challenging times.

Published by HarperOne, Common's book is intended to be a guide for improving one's overall health and well-being. He sees it as a way to give back to people, explaining, "I felt that this was my way of giving back to people."

Common highlighted the potential impact of his book, stating, "I can actually get some people to really help themselves if they just read some of this or even practice some of it. It could change lives. I know it changed mine."

In recent years, Common also emphasized the significant role of therapy in his healing journey, contributing to his mindfulness and the maintenance of his mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Taking time for self-care has been a crucial part of his personal growth and well-being.

"And Then We Rise" is scheduled for release in January 2024.
