Netflix has officially refuted the claims circulating on social media regarding a reported R22 million deal with Kelly Khumalo and Zandile Gumede concerning the circumstances of Senzo Meyiwa's death.

A Netflix spokesperson categorically denied the existence of any such deal between the Khumalos and Netflix, dismissing the reports as baseless. This clarification comes after @Joy_Zelda, a prominent social media figure, shared the information suggesting that Khumalo and Gumede had signed a R22 million deal with Netflix. “Kelly Khumalo and Zandile Khumalo Gumede have signed a R22million deal with Netflix to produce a docu-series about the events that took place in the house the day Senzo Meyiwa was killed,” tweeted Joy Zelda.

In April 2022, Ten Ten Films, Netflix's production company, premiered a five-part docu-series focusing on the tragic murder of South African Soccer Legend, Senzo Meyiwa. The series delved into the details of Meyiwa's untimely death, which occurred during a robbery at the house of his girlfriend, the singer Kelly Khumalo, in Vosloorus on 26 October 2014.

The crime documentary provided a comprehensive narrative, featuring interviews with Meyiwa's family, friends, former Hawks head Shadrack Sibiya, and advocate Gerrie Nel. Additionally, the series offered exclusive interviews with sports broadcaster Robert Marawa, offering an intimate glimpse into the life and death of the late Orlando Pirates captain.

Although Kelly and Zandile, the sisters of the deceased, did not directly participate in the docu-series, snippets from their interviews with other media outlets were utilized to contribute to the narrative.
