A South African woman has been left with her head in her hands after she was scammed out of R1.6 million by her Ugandan lover.

According to reports, police are currently searching the Ugandan man who convinced his Mpumalanga girlfriend that if she gave him money, he would multiply it for her. According to reports, the woman left her job in order to receive payouts which she then gave to her Ugandan lover who subsequently disappeared into thin air. A Mpumalanga woman has been left broke and broken hearted after the “love of her life” scammed her out of nearly R2 million.

According to an IOL article, the police are currently searching for a man named Lucky Innocent Talemwa who could provide them with information to the Ugandan man’s whereabouts. “The police in Middelburg are requesting members of the public to assist in locating Mr Lucky Innocent Talemwa, as investigators are convinced that he could be of great assistance in their probe of a theft case amounting to R1.6 million,” said Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Brigadier Selvy Mohlala.

The spokesperson further revealed that the woman’s lover showed her black notes which he convinced her could be turned into real money — all she needed to do was bring him some real money. She then left her job and started handing over cash on different dates which amounted to R1.6m. Shortly after this, her lover disappeared and was never heard from again.
