Ashley “DJ Shimza” Raphala has been granted a writ of execution against controversial music executive Nhamulo "Nota" Baloyi according to reports.

In August last year, the court ruled in favour of DJ Shimza after he sued Nota for defamation of character. Nota dragged Shimza on Twitter for being corrupt and benefiting from political connections due to his alleged affair with Athi Geleba, the head of digital communications in the Presidency. Nota was supposed to pay R349 000 in the wake of the judgment. However, he did settle part of the initial amount and promised to pay off the remaining balance in time, but that was not the case. DJ Shimza once revealed on Twitter that Nota didnt pay enough.

Speaking to the media, Nota once questioned how the amount billed at R289 000 was taxed at R349 000 when he should only pay R200 000 after deductions. Nota Baloyi said: Why would fees billed at R289 000 end up being taxed at R349 000 when it should only be R200 000 after deductions?

City Pressrevealed that the charges included:

  • R528 for summons
  • R1 312 for consultation
  • R2 071 for 19 calls
  • R19 000 for the perusal of the trial bundle
  • R252 540 for DJ Shimzas Advocates legal bills

However, in the wake of the news, DJ Shimza is yet to confirm if he has received the writ of execution despite the confirmation from a YouTube channel that first broke the defamation of character news. Against the rumours, several social media users have since weighed into the matter with their two cents. Despite being tagged on Twitter regarding the new development in his defamation of character case that might see him losing some of his assets, Nota has blue-ticked the news.
