The actress’s role in ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ is getting the recognition it deserves.

Angela Bassett’s role as Queen Ramonda in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is being looked at as an Oscar frontrunner now that the best supporting actress has won big at the Golden Globe Awards and the Critics Choice Awards and director of the Marvel film Ryan Coogler has reacted to the news. “She’s so incredible that sometimes you forget. You know?” Coogler said while speaking with Variety at the Taste of Sundance event on the festival’s opening night. “Her work ethic is insane.

 

I came up playing sports so you notice this working with her, it’s like you have an extra coach on the field. I find on days when she’s working I can get more done. It’s just the truth.” He added, “She would do this thing on the first movie where she doesn’t really leave set. She stays crazy close, which is nuts for an actor like her. It sets such an amazing example. Nobody wants to go back to the trailer in between when Angela is sitting right next to the camera.”

 

Angela Bassett has also been nominated for the Screen Actors Guild Awards as well as the BAFTA Film Awards. Bassett took home the Golden Globe for the "Best Supporting Actress – Motion Picture" award for her role in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Her win makes her the first actor to earn a major award for a Marvel movie. “I got to find my words. I’m so nervous. My heart is just beating,” Bassett said. “The late Tony Morrison said that your life is already a miracle of chance just waiting for you to order its destiny.
