A 42-year-old Irish fugitive was arrested in Bloemfontein this week in connection with the 2014 murder of two people in her home country. According to Free State Hawks spokesperson Captain Christopher Singo, Ruth Sharon Lawrence fled Ireland shortly after her friends, Eoin O' Connor and Anthony Keegan, were found murdered. Interpol issued a warrant for her arrest and "information was received on Wednesday, 28 September 2022, about the suspect being located in Bloemfontein", Singo added. The Hawks and police's Flying Squad arrested her in Pellisier. Lawrence appeared in the Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court on Wednesday and the case was postponed to 12 October.
