Thieves have reportedly broken into the ZCC (Zion Christian Church) headquarters in Moria and stole an undisclosed amount of cash.

The criminals who are believed to be members of the church broke in, in broad daylight two weeks ago. A ZCC member has revealed that criminals have gained access to their headquarters in Moria and stole an unrevealed amount of cash. The employee also told Sunday World that the church leader- Bishop Barnabas Lekganyane phoned police after discovering the premises had been broken as he was also concerned for his safety.

Bishop Lekganyane informed Police from Mankweng police station in Turfloop that the headquarters were broken into and that money was stolen. Police combed the building for possible incriminating evidence and collected fingerprints from the crime scene for forensic investigation. The employee told the publication:

“We suspect it’s an inside job.” “There is no way in hell that thieves could walk from the main entrance of the city and go into the building and break into the office in which the money was kept and steal it without being noticed.” “Besides, security is very tight here, you can’t take chances.”

Limpopo’s provincial police spokesperson- Motlafela Mojapelo confirmed to Sunday World that money was stolen from the church.

“A case of business burglary was opened. No suspects were arrested, and police investigations are underway.”

The ZCC revealed in a statement that they’ve decided to reopen their small branches across the country for church services since the state of disaster has been lifted. The church also said no choirs will be allowed and that church services will be limited to 45 minutes with only two preachers. No singing will be allowed during the church service and bigger branches will be allowed two sessions Sunday services from 14:30 – 15:15 and 15:45 – 16:30. Smaller branches will only have 45 minutes of service.
