According to PEOPLE, a rep confirmed that recent internet squabbles played a role in the decision to prohibit the performance by the artist, who officially changed his name to Ye. One of the battles was with Trevor Noah, who is hosting the Grammys at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, and will be broadcast live on CBS.

Kanye West, 44, an entertainment mogul, was reportedly locked out of his Instagram account for 24 hours on Thursday (March 17), after he was accused of posting racial slurs on the Daily Show host’s  IG page. The incident began Tuesday (March 15) after Noah commented on West’s public split with Kim Kardashian, People notes. On the Daily Show episode, Noah said he embraced the “land of tabloids” direction of the Kim-Kanye-Pete(Davidson) situation, but said the situation has gone too far, and urged the mogul to seek therapy.

The battle with Noah represented the latest in a string of virtual outbursts that has caused concern among critics and fans alike. In early March, Kanye shared the music visuals for his The Game-featured single, “Eazy.” In the video, there’s a claymation version of Pete Davidson who appears to be kidnapped, tied up and beheaded – all before being buried. Noah acknowledges that art doesn’t have to result in actual physical harm and “art can be therapy I honestly understand that, he said. “But I also understand that therapy can be therapy.” “Over time, Kanye has become more and more belligerent in how he tried to get Kim back,” Noah, 38, said. In the aftermath of the alleged comment from Kanye, Noah said, “It breaks my heart.”
