Minister of Sport, Nathi Mthethwa has made a game-changing announcement.

Get ready for this one, brand-new sides will be formed by Chiefs, Pirates and the rest of the PSL. They will finally be forming women teams as part of South Africa’s plans to have a female team represented by every PSL side. “All recognized men’s clubs as for this year 2022 will be required to have a female team in their set up in order to participate in the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederations Cups,” stated Mthethwa on KickOff.

History will be made and it is long overdue. Football and sport is all about equality, equal rights and opportunity. The beautiful game is for everyone. Now, it can finally be played at the top level in the country. Mamelodi Sundowns and TS Galaxy are currently the only PSL side with a female side. However, they are waving the SA flag in style, they are the current Hollywood Super League champions.

This means, Benni McCarthy’s AmaZulu and MaMkhize’s Royal AM will be forming new sides soon too. That is if they would like to participate in CAF football next season after Mthethwa’s huge announcement.
