A 22-year-old Canadian man went viral in 2021 for his resemblance to Grammy award-winning rapper Drake.

“Fake Drake” (as he’s been named) caught everyone’s attention again when he rapped one of the Grammy award-winning rapper’s songs in a woman’s face at a club in Miami, Florida. In an interview with No Jumper, Izzy aka “fake Drake” revealed that he got Drake’s approval to “get his bag” as his lookalike. While in Las Vegas, Izzy met up with a friend named Mikey who happened to know Drake personally. Mikey insisted on calling the superstar rapper to “see why he has to say about this whole thing”. “Drake was just like ‘it doesn’t bother me’, it doesn’t affect me’. ‘Let the guy get his bag, it’s not affecting me,’” explained Izzy.

Since coming out as the rapper’s lookalike, Izzy has scored club appearances in the United States and Canada and says he is making good money for his two-year-old twins. He claimed that he makes $5000 (roughly R79 000) for club appearances. “Fake Drake” was out and about in Miami recently where someone caught him rapping the musician’s hit Girls Want Girls featuring Lil Baby to a woman in a club. Although it might just be a coincidence, the lyrics mentioned Miami too! He wore an OVO tracksuit and rocked the rapper’s signature hairstyle too.

Taking to Twitter to react to “Fake Drake” some tweeps feel that Izzy has taken it too far. “A real loser type n*gga, you know. No hope for the future at all,” wrote one tweep. “He a little too invested,” wrote another tweep. “This is like something out of a fanfiction omg.”
