You often hear people saying “she slept her way to the top” … and that is exactly what Xigubu tried to do. Dropping out of school to focus on her music career, the 24-year-old artist says, at the time, she felt it was the only way. Taking to Instagram with her jaw-dropping story, Xigubu explained how she tried to sleep her way to the top. Entering a male-dominated industry was daunting, and all she wanted to do was make it big!

Speaking to Daily Sun, Xigubu explained how she was promised fame in return for sexual favours… which never materialized. While Xigubu was not held down and raped… as such… she was manipulated into taking the deals in order to make her dreams of being a successful artist come true. “I have slept with a lot of big artists and they would lie to me. They would promise me big things like taking me far in my career but that never happened. They all lied to me.”

The young artist is not wanting to expose any of the men that fed her empty promises… she just wants to warn other young women. Admitting that she chose to go down the wrong path… Xigubu just prays her story will save another woman from doing the same. “I wanted to take shortcuts, thinking things would happen quickly for me. However, I learnt the hard way that things don’t happen like that.” “I don’t want any other woman to go through what I went through because most women will be broken if they have to go through this.”

Xigubu has had many women reach out to her since opening up… and says their stories are truly heartbreaking. Breaking into a male-dominated industry is not easy, but women need to stand up and say no… or they will never stop!
