South Africa to remain on adjusted Level 1 lockdown

The Government says South Africa will remain on an adjusted Level 1 lockdown. Health Minister Joe Phaahla made the announcement after meeting the Coronavirus Command Council.

The minister says while infections are increasing, hospital admissions remain stable. He says Government will continue to monitor the situation. Phaahla is pleading for responsible behaviour over the holidays. He is still urging people to get vaccinated. The department plans to host pop-up vaccination sites at roadblocks, malls and sports events.
