Nick Cannon welcomed his seventh child with model Alyssa Scott earlier this year on June 23rd.

On Tuesday (Dec. 7), while opening his talk show Nick Cannon, with his segment “Pic of The Day,” the 41-year-old shared the tragic news with his studio audience and opened up how his family has been reacting to the news. Cannon shared that on Thanksgiving he noticed his son's health take a turn and on Sunday (Dec. 5) that was the last time he was able to be present with his son Zen before he died. “I have so much faith in the Lord [and] faith in God,” he shared with the audience, holding back tears. “I prayed for the miracle for God’s strength and that's why I am here with you guys today. He puts the most and heaviest weights on the shoulders of his strongest soldiers.

I'm here to show that I can fight through this.” Adding, “This is a special show dedicated to my beautiful son, Zen.” Cannon also detailed moments about his son’s health and observations he noticed months after he was born. “I  always noticed he had a cough and so I wanted to check it out,” he said. ”He had this interesting breathing and by the time he was two months, I noticed he had this nice sized head too — a Cannon head. We didn’t think anything of it. But I wanted to take him to the doctor for his sinus and breathing. We thought it would be a routine process.” Zen was diagnosed with Hydrocephalus, a form of brain cancer that can happen frequently with infants and adults over 60.

According to the Mayo Clinic, Hydocephalus “is the buildup of fluid in the cavities (ventricles) deep within the brain. The excess fluid increases the size of the ventricles and puts pressure on the brain.” “I have to thank all of the doctors at the Children's Hospital of Orange County,” he said. “I am so grateful for my entire family for coming together during this time ... especially Alyssa.” BET.com offers our sincerest condolences to Nick Cannon and his family during their time of need.
