While Master KG continues globetrotting, receiving all kinds of accolades for Jerusalema, Nomcebo Zikode, the woman behind the hit’s vocals, is lawyering up, in a bid to get what she claims is due to her.

The last two years have no doubt been life-changing for Master KG, whose real name is Kgaogelo Moagi and Zikode. Jerusalema, an upbeat gospel-inspired house song, was released in November 2019 – but it was after a few months that it would blow up charts all over the globe. The song reached number one in several countries including Romania, Belgium, Netherlands and Switzerland.

Despite having co-written Jerusalema with Master KG, Nomcebo Zikode now claims she has been left out in the cold and is owed royalties for the song. “Thank you to all the fans of Jerusalema you have made my dreams a reality, with attaining a global hit song. My voice and lyrics have transcended globally, but I still await what is due to me,” Zikode said. “I have not been paid a cent by the label for (Jerusalema), despite the song’s global success.

I have been ridiculed, with efforts to marginalise my contribution” Nomcebo Zikode Zikode says the continued love and support from her fans has been what’s helped her through the difficult period. “I, as a female artist, can’t stay silent on this anymore, the matter is now with my lawyers,” she added. There’s no word on Master KG’s involvement in the matter, but the producer has been flying high recently and seems to be raking in the big bucks, having recently forked out a few millions of a Ferrari.

He’s been rather busy these past few months working on more music and has a new single out with international DJ David Guetta and rapper Akon.
