Lesotho's Prime Minister Thomas Thabane has skipped the country

Prime Minister Thomas Thabane was due in court in connection with his estranged wife's murder and faces charges of murder and attempted murder.

Prime Minister Thomas Thabane estranged wife Lipolelo was shot several times in her car near her home on June 14, 2017. The Prime Minister remarried two months after her death and his second wife, Maesaiah Thabane was charged with her murder after briefly fleeing the country.

 

Lipolelo Thabane, then 58, and Thomas Thabane, now 80, were going through an acrimonious divorce when an unknown assailant shot her dead near her home in Lesotho's capital Maseru, two days before her husband's inauguration as prime minister.
