South Africa is teeming with natural and creative dance talent such that many believe they have it in them to conquer the dance floor.

Countless young individuals and crews in search of opportunities to make something worthwhile of their gift and spread their wings can be found in most townships. The RedSquare Dance Competition is presented to cater to this overflowing, energetic, enthusiastic and ambitious talent, enabling it to positively express itself in a much bigger platform.

It is an initiative turning five and proving to be a platform of choice for dancers wishing to showcase their talent, particularly in isiPantsula, Hip Hop, and isiBhujwa. The competition is Red Square’s thumbs-up response to the dance craze continuing to take the country by storm.

Dance styles keep emerging to entertain and wow audiences, even major music stars from across the globe. “RedSquare, as a brand, views the dance competition as a vehicle through which to give back by presenting a platform with sizable benefits for participants.

It is about making a contribution in encouraging young people to further professionalize and use their natural talent in generating income for themselves in these times of high unemployment,” says Edward Makhayne, RedSqauare Sales manager.

At the moment, the RedSquare Dance Competition is targeted at dancers from Ekurhuleni, Tshwane, Joburg, Bloemfontein, and parts of Mpumalanga. Each of the three categories of isiPantsula, Hip Hop and isiBhujwa have a cash prize of R30 000 for competing groups. Winners in each of the categories battle it out for the overall crown of king or queens of the RedSquare Dance Competition and take home an additional R10 000.

Solo male and female performers, in each of the three categories, stand a chance to win R5 000 each. The closing date for entries is 28 February 2020. Auditions are scheduled to take place in March and early April. Details on audition dates and venues can be obtained from https://redsquaredance.co.za

Finalists will battle it out at a Grand Finale scheduled for 25th April 2020 at House 22 in Sunnyside, Pretoria. Among acts billed for performances at the final are Areece, Nomcebo, Naaq Music, Makhadzi, Sje Konka, Virgo Deep, Masterpiece, and DJ Coach.
