On Thursday, Tyrese posted a racially-charged four-picture montage that included an image of white people in chains. "The flip……. Get to YouTube this is what's going on in South Africa……." he captioned the since-deleted series of pictures.

The Instagram post didn't sit well with many people, including several prominent South African celebrities. Tyrese then posted a video that seemed to show Black celebrities claiming systemic racism doesn't exist, although the video was extremely edited. He captioned it, "Touchy touchy….. Who's view do you agree with?"

"I'm confused," continued the Oscar winner. "Race doesn't matter???!! Look at what we goin threw right now… what does this post mean?? Who is this for??" "Again I say! What is this post for??? During this horrific time for us? Why are we even talking about what these guys are saying from the comfort of a press junket?? Cmon man we can't be this comfortable," Jamie said.

"Think about the pain these families are going threw Because of the color of their skin.." Tyrese has since deleted the altered video. However, the actor then posted a 30-minute video trying to explain himself. "Dear South Africa," he said, "This is my response to what has now become controversial- Love and light always! [shout to team short attention span] Ha!" The video was widely panned. "I'm sorry but watching this video just made me even more disappointed," one person said. Another commented said, "Basically what you're saying is 'sorry not sorry.'" On Thursday afternoon, Tyrese deleted that video as well.
