South African personality, actor and musician Boity Thulo has signed with Hip Hop/RnB record label Def Jam Records. The news broke on Twitter as culture commentator Phil Mphela announced the exciting news on Twitter

Boity has not released new music since her second 2019 single titled “Bakae“. This long hiatus from music is the result of a dispute with her previous record label Universal Music Group South Africa. In her reality tv show “Boity: Own Her Throne” on BET South Africa showed Ms. Thulo express her frustration with her record label and not being happy with the terms of her contract as they restricted her from releasing any new music.

Although neither Boity, Boity’s management or Def Jam have confirmed this signing, this would make Boity the second South African artist to sign with this legendary record label after Nasty C, who announced Def Jam as his new home early April. This deal will hopefully allow Boity to transcend and infiltrate the International market.
