Days before Babyface's highly-anticipated IG battle with Teddy Riley, the match was rescheduled and Babyface later revealed that he and his family tested positive for COVID-19 amid speculation. He appeared on The View, safely in quarantine at his home, where he recounted the ordeal.

“I don’t really know where we got it from or how we got it,” Babyface told co-host Whoopi Goldberg. He had just returned home to Los Angeles from a performance in Las Vegas at The Mirage when he “started to get a scratchy throat.” The 62-year-old immediately went to the doctor as soon as possible. [The doctor] told me it looks like it could be bacterial or viral,” Babyface recollected.

Not wanting to put anyone else at risk, he isolated himself inside of his at-home studio. “By that night, suddenly, [a] fever came. Body aches, chills, night sweats, everything hit me,” Babyface recalled, adding his temperature would fluctuate around 101. That bout lasted for about six days. His wife, Nicole, started experiencing symptoms a few days later and they both got tested. Babyface said 10 days passed before they received a positive diagnosis, confirming his suspicions.

“So, I was in the studio for about 17 days before I actually went back home,” he estimated. Goldberg then asked him what he would say to those who are not taking the coronavirus pandemic seriously. “It’s real and it is weird because you don’t know how it’s gonna hit you, per say. But it can and the biggest thing is you don’t know where it comes from,” Babyface remarked. “To this day, I still don't know how I got it and how Nicky got it, and we thank God we got through it,” he continued. “The main thing is it’s real and can happen.”
