Having spent over 10 years at Naturena, Willard Katsande feels Kaizer Chiefs will always have a special place in his heart. He has said it would be a blatant lie to deny his love.

As it was confirmed last season, and with very sad vibes, the club as well as the player, announced that Katsande was going to play his last game for the club against Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League final. The Zimbabwean star finally left after no less than 10 years at Naturena with two DStv Premiership titles, MTN8 and Nedbank Cup gold medals, not forgetting the achievement of over 300 games. That is what you call a club legend.

During a chat with Prime Sports WIth Mahlatse via YouTube, the former Ajax Cape Town midfielder was asked to honestly say whether he still loves Kaizer Chiefs, now that he has moved to Sekhukhune United. “I would be lying to say that I don’t love Chiefs,” Katsande said. “It is like telling people that you don’t love your wife and yet you know that you love her. You understand? “Even if she doesn’t have an eye, but you love her. I spent a love of years there.

The bond, the connection is there and it’s very, very strong. “I always tell them [the fans], I will be back but in a different role,” concluded the 36-year-old player. While, the player who is known as ‘Salt and Pepper’ faced Amakhosi as Sekhukhune lost 2-0 last December, Katsande is expected to have another go and face his former club when the two sides meet on 14 May.
