If you think you’ve had a bad day at work, it probably doesn’t compare to that of mechanic who crashed a custom-made Ferrari while driving it to a dealership, rendering the supercar completely irreparable. The driver managed to survive the crash and was treated by paramedics who rushed to the scene. Two of the car’s wheels were also ripped off. A witness to the accident is quoted as having said: “The local Ferrari dealer is about two kilometres away from the scene. It’s a customer-owned car. The weather conditions were damp and chilly, maybe three degrees in temperature. It hit a tree stump at the side of the road. It hit it on the passenger side and the stump was damaged”.

The crashed sports vehicle is called a Ferrari Enzo and only 400 of them were made between 2002-2004. When they first launched, the Enzos were worth over $600 000 (R9 million), but they have skyrocketed in value. In August 2021, a 2003 Ferrari Enzo was sold for more than $3.3 million (well over R45 million). Images of the unfortunate crash were shared by Dutch photographer Jeffrey de Ruiter. The accident raises a number of questions, including whether the mechanic will be held liable for the cost of the damage, but some experts say insurance will likely foot the bill, that’s if the Ferrari was covered to begin with.
