A 48-year-old security guard from Orange Farm, Stretford, Johannesburg has bagged a winning lotto ticket worth R11 million that will change his life for the better.

National Lottery Operator, ITHUBA, said in a statement that it was thrilled that one of the PowerBall PLUS jackpot winners of the R22 Million draw that took place on Tuesday 15 June 2021 came forward to claim his winnings. ITHUBA said the winning ticket was purchased just hours before the draw took place in Orange Farm Stretford, Johannesburg, Gauteng and added that the winner only spent R15 on the winning ticket using the Quick Pick selection method.

The security guard told ITHUBA that his dream of building his family their dream house can finally become a reality. The reserved 48-year old lotto winner said; “The winnings will make a massive difference in our lives, my wife is currently unemployed and we have three children that are currently in school. A portion of the winnings will go towards their tertiary education.” That’s not all, the plans don’t stop there. “I want to invest in property and start a transportation company. Lastly, I plan on getting my wife and I brand new cars and investing the rest of our winnings”, the security guard added. The other lotto winner, who won half of the R22 million, has not yet come forward to collect their winnings.

The CEO of ITHUBA, Charmaine Mabuza said; “Congratulations to our PowerBall PLUS jackpot  winner, it’s always fulfilling to witness how Lottery jackpots change people’s lives. This is what  ITHUBA set out to do when we were awarded the License to Operator in 2015 – to change the  lives of ordinary South Africans for the better.” ITHUBA offers lotto winners of R50 000 and above trauma counselling and extensive financial advice. Mabuza said they are pleased that the security guard opted for the advisory services which will come at no cost to the winner. “The advisory services are to help our winners deal with the life-changing moments they find themselves facing and to assist our winners with their financial planning”, said Mabuza. “As South Africa moves to COVID-19 alert level four and as a convenient and safe method of playing the National Lottery games we urge players to utilise the National Lottery digital platforms. Players can purchase their tickets from the National Lottery website,” ITHUBA added.
